| Summary | 0006090: Individual region settings are not being read by opensim unless in RegionConfig.ini | |||||||||
| Description | I wanted to have different regions with their own settings in separate ini files, but I found unless those settings are in RegionConfig.ini they are ignored in any other region config file. EG, region 1 has region1.ini region2 = region2.ini etc etc, then copying the settings from RegionConfig.ini such as maxprim, region type, into those ini files, and restarting the regions, the regions return to default and no region type listed, but put all the region sections from each ini into RegionConfig.ini and it all works, but the settings affect all regions in that file. One of the comments in RegionConfig.ini is:- "You can put multiple regions into one file or make one file per region", but unless there's some magic that can allow duplicate file names, opensim only reads the region properties/attributes from RegionConfig.ini and any other ini of a different name is read only as a basic region configuration, with UUID, Location, Port, etc etc, and region properties, such as prim max, region type etc etc, are ignored. | |||||||||

Can't reproduce - I can have two different files containing regions where each region has its own MaxPrims setting and they are all set properly. |

I can't reproduce it either, but I reported elsewhere that some settings behave oddly when using -inidirectory (see http://opensimulator.org/mantis/view.php?id=6141 [^]). Everything is supposed to be "overridden" by the extra config files — but the original ones are read first — but sometimes this doesn't happen as expected. The oddity is present in 0.7.4RC1 but was absent on 0.7.3.1, and it's not easy to track: in my case, for example, I have no problem in overriding the regions file. |
