Only change I see that seems to relate to REST and XML in commits between r/15466 and r/15509 are at r/15509 (Diva) and at r/15496 (Justin). Could either be related?

Diva's change at r/15509 seems to only be a change in a warning to a debug message for Invalid XML. So I looked back at my r/15466 logs for such an Invalid XML warning and there are none.

I do though see some days ago in the r/15466 logs some [ASYNC REQUEST]: errors. Are these being changed into the Invalid XML ones? Recent runs of r/15466 though do not show any such message.

2011-05-12 11:40:33,135 ERROR - OpenSim.Framework.AsynchronousRestObjectRequester [ASYNC REQUEST]: Request GET http://virtual.aiai.ed.ac.uk:8003/assets/716b0190-2798-46d0-a75a-6389373a88b8 [^] failed with status ConnectFailure and message Unable to connect to the remote server

I also note that the specific asset UUID that shows this message in r/15466 does NOT show as an Invalid XML asset UUID in r/15509

In the first instance, I would guess that the asset is actually corrupt in this way and we have been hiding that fact up till recently.

I suggest you use the command

dump asset <uuid>

on the robust console to save the asset to the filesystem and then attach that file here.

I am getting asset not found on a Robust.exe console dump asset for the instances I tried Justin. I have around 30 such Invalid XMl reports in my openSim.exe console log. Three examples here...

I have the same problem. I get a lot of these error messages since 0.7.2

Its tricky to know where to start to tidy up such things. I know we get these sorts of data base issues over time. And that save OAR and IAR often can note many such things. Would some way to offer a "clean up" option in the OAR/IAR setup make sense?

Ah, now this is interesting. In one case I tested, I had exactly the same UUID error reported on OSGrid as Openvue... meaning it was very unlikely to be one of our own users objects or asset UUIDs...

I tried googling a couple of the other asset ids but they don't resolve to anything well known.

If you closely at your link, you'll see that the plywood texture is actually

89556747-24cb-43ed-920b-47caed15465f

not

89556747-24cb-920b-43ed-47caed15465f

It has been correct in OpenSim since at least 2008.

I suspect these are assets which have always been missing for you but some recent change is now causing the request to complain instead of silently ignoring the problem.

It would be nice to have a tool that could do an 'integrity check' on IARs or OARs. Alas, I haven't had the time or the personal urgent need to write one yet.

Ah yes.. thats right on the Plywood.

I guess a lot of long running grids will see very many of these sorts of warnings with odd and ends that have crept into the data over the years.

I wonder if the Invalid XML command in 0.7.2 dev master could have a little extra instrumentation added to say somethig useful about where its being reported from - I assume its another valid asset at a given region/x/y/z for example that will refer to the invalid UUID?

Like the case where we quickly tracked down the orphan objects from unlinking that were in the data before when you added a report of the region/x/y/z for the errors being reported at that time.

I can confirm above mentioned bug, adtionally i am getting SIM CRASH on 0.7.2 dev master r/15509 if i log to an fresh installed instance with viewer having cleared cache. During the crash are above mentioned messages at the end of the log.

I wonder if is that crash relevant to this bug.

On r/15466 there is no crash once is scene completely cached.

Cheers, Bo

I note that when I save OAR files on some instances of OpenSim.exe where I have relatively few objects I can see that the UUIDs of the objects that are shown as having invalid XML (possibly simply no result) in the [SynchronousRestObjectRequester] messsages are in 1-to-1 relationship with the objects reported as not found during a save OAR command.

I wonder if it's textures or other resources fir objects that in the past have not been properly and 100% transferred by HG visitors.

Git master 938b4f8 contains a change which will provide more data than the "invalid XML" message.
