Summary0005246: Sep. Data table or Data base for Baked Avie Storage
DescriptionIm not shure if its possable to do this but i feel that it would be better if the stored baked avie textuers could have a sep. database.
I know this is all expermental right now but it seems wiser not to mix them with normal asset data table. It already becomes quite large over time and sep. them allows more options later and less stress on an allready taxed asset's table.
If it can be done then a grid op can have a sep. mysql insatnce or at least a sep table that can better deal with this type of thing.

tnx

There might be a speedbump or two on the road to implementing this securely, but it's a conceptually very good idea.

One thing we did find out was that using this tends to mask some undlerlying problems. We tryed this mostly to see if it would help and it did. Later other patches were added to address some of them. Mostly just wanted others to be aware that using this right now may hide problems that still need addresed.

I do believe that LL are working on implementing avatar baking as a service, so if OpenSim got one that would probably benefit from having it's own storage?

certainly. we'd need read-write storage because of bakes have to travel from sim to sim, survive logout/login and possibly be optimized, we can't create a new asset for each bake in the asset servers
