Summary0005053: SIMIAN ASSET CONNECTOR log spewage.
DescriptionShortly after my avatar TPs into the region, or any of it's neighboring regions, the SIMIAN ASSET CONNECTOR starts spewing a warning, every 1-2 seconds, about an asset not found, into OpenSim.log.

When I leave the region or it's neighboring regions, the spewage stops. It starts up again, if I return.
Additional Information2010-09-19 14:59:05,592 WARN - OpenSim.Services.Connectors.SimianGrid.SimianAssetServiceConnector [SIMIAN ASSET CONNECTOR]: Asset GET from [^] failed: The remote server returned an error: (40
4) Not Found.

My mono (which should be added to the drop-down list) is 2.6.4.

This is a SimianGrid grid of 20 regions, 19 of which are running "b8d14fc - r13843", while this one region runs master (see "Git Revision"). Simian is at master, as of this report.

Oh, I did check my AssetData table and the asset indeed does not exist.

There are sometimes cases where a script or some other process will repeatedly try to fetch an asset that just isn't there (for one reason or another). The default ROBUST asset connector handles this by just not printing warnings about missing assets. I'll leave this ticket open because I'd like to do some sort of intelligent logging where it would occasionally print out "Asset GET from ... failed: ... (repeated N times)" by tracking asset warnings with a HashSet and then only printing out warnings at intervals of { 1, 10, 100, 1000 } or something like that.

There are ZERO scripts in this grid. It is the mere presence of my default avatar, in the region or it's neighboring regions, that causes this.

How are your C# skills? This kind of problem is difficult to reproduce in an isolated test environment, but if you can add code to the logging part of the SimianGrid asset connector that gives a stack trace it could give some insight on what is generating these requests. I have to run for the rest of the afternoon but I'll be back in the evening.

I'm not a C# programmer. I am, however, perfectly capable of making local edits as directed and recompiling, if there's something you want me to try that you don't want to stick into master.

A viewer crash - and updating of the whole grid to master - and this no longer seems to be an issue. If it comes back at some future date, we can look further into it.

Your plans regarding more intelligent logging are good though, and should be pursued at some point.

It seems I spoke too soon, as I'm once again seeing something continuously trying to get an apparently missing asset - every 10 seconds, this time.

This wasn't the reason it spewed when I open this ticket, but the reason this time was the map apparently. I'd left it open. When I closed it, the spewage stopped immediately. I opened it again to see if it would start up again, but it only spit out the message three times then stopped.
