I would be willing to investigate this more as single vehicle physics code is untouched.
Where can I get a copy of his boat to test with? |

the vendors with items/notecards are at regions;
(Sailors Vista) for the sail boat
(Sailing) for the Ice Boat and Ice Skates |

Unfortunately, my client crashes visiting Baya in a repeatable manner.
* load client, connect with Baya as the home, 3-15 seconds later the client will dissapear asking me if I want to send a crash report :/ |

I was just at N center edge of Sailors Vista saw you ghosted in Baya..
Try region (Sailing) they are near identical scripts with same problems
also can try N center edge of Sailors Vista region for the sailboat. |

The boat continues to work in Hiro Protagonist's sim DeltaZone. This is very fortunate because I am giving a talk at the SL boat show tomorrow morning at 0900 SLT to probably 30+ AVs with the chat log transcript to be posted for another few hundred, who might very well be headed to OSG to try out the boat and have it fail.
Bad timing. I shall inform them of DeltaZone being the only place without the error.

I do hope this is not an elimination of llSetRot functionality for physical objects because the boat's steering depends on it. . . . . and on further investigation here is what I see.
An arrow key press triggers the water rushing noise that it should. But the boat does not turn in Baya with whatever SVN is there. Ditto the ice boat.
Further, the HUD with sailing data is not updating. This suggests a listener issue and some sort of event clog or event failure, and of course arrow keys are events.
Those are my observations. Thank God it works in Hiro's sim or OSG was about to lose SL sailing. Bri, if you have it ready by tomorrow morning, that will help a ton, but if you can't, you can't. IM me in SL so I know before the talk and can direct questioners to grab the boat in Baya and sail in DeltaZone. Hiro doesn't have a boat vendor (I don't think).

If this helps.. both for chasing the issue and your demonstrations.
I reverted 3 regions to 7585 and all seems normal with the boats :)
I also changed those regions to lite and off MySql and oar'd back.
They are on the Win2008 quad dedicated.

This doesn't seem like physics issue. This seems like general control issues. Testing, I put a boatprim in the water, I sat on it, I wore the boat attachment. I clicked the boat and it started moving. I could hit left and right to change the boat heading as expected. I Stood up, and noticed that even standing up, I could no longer turn left or right. So, it looks like the script engine isn't releasing the locked controls. |

Confirmed that boating kit works as designed on my DeltaZone - running 32 bit debian unstable, r7633, 3GHZ dual core, 2 GB Ram, mono 2.3
Teravus: can confirm the release controls locking, was noted in the initial 'steerable prim' script I started with from the OSGrid Scripting Forums |

There is nothing wrong with the script's releasing controls and never was. The Release Controls button on the screen that used to be there disappeared when y'all put out your newest Hippo Viewer. It all worked fine and normal until then. Now a user is forced to use the "release keys" option in one of the top-of-the-screen menus.
The boat did fail to turn last night. If it is turning now in Baya, it may be because Bri backed out the change that broke steering. As I mentioned, the up arrow key did trigger water sounds. But it did not change sail position as it always has.
Something broke it. It is now fixed. That's all that matters to me and SL sailing for this morning.

Maybe I really don't understand what you mean. Did you try the new revision before reopening this bug? or did you just reopen it to reopen it? |

Well, I'll try it again after updating to head. But if I see that it's fixed, I'm going to mark this as resolved again. |

I can confirm that turning is fixed in trunk. I really don't want to argue with you about what the underlying cause is. Please test trunk before reopening this bug. Thanks. ( I did test your boat to ensure that repeated attempts to sit and stand do not break it also. )
Additionally, I've attached images of the boat, the scenery, and in one of them, the boat can be seen turning by the particle trail.

Revisiting this Mantis because the issue comes and goes with svn 7636.
I have it working fine all day but had to do a few things to get there..
I am sure most of this falls under witchcraft but here I go J
Reduced my region count from 12 to 4 near empty.
Changed data base from MySql to Lite
Reverted Hippo to 0.2.1
Restart and load up, one at a time with oars.
Also cooked 2 frogs and burned 1 witch on a cross on Baya.. wood stake in her heart too !

Local XPS Dell, SLI 8800’s 25 mpb down. |

I am unable to reproduce the issue at this point. Please see the screenshots.
If you can give me directions on how to reproduce the issue, I will be happy to investigate it more, however, in light of the fact that I'm unable to reproduce it with the boat, there is nothing further that I can do.
I've gone out of my way to solve the issue with the boat, including posting screen shots of the boat in action (which if you look at my mantis history, you'll see that i've never ever done for anyone else). Additionally, the issue with the boat wasn't even related to the physics change at all... but I fixed it anyway. Given that, please provide a method to reproduce the issue. Thanks.

Are you seeing the following on the console? :
17:57:45 - [ScriptEngine.DotNetEngine]: ERROR: Event execution queue item count is at 300. Config variable "EventExecutionMaxQueueSize"
is set to 300, so ignoring new event. |

I also want to make sure it's clear just in case the comment above was taken as an insult to Owen, that I'm not saying that there was a 'release controls' issue in the script itself, I don't have the source, and I have no way to test that really. I'm saying that OpenSimulator wasn't releasing the controls previously because of a bug in the avatar motor control system.

Hmm, also, are you saying that r7585 is the last known good revision for boats? If so, then I guess I could step through them to find the revision that broke them :)
well, maybe not.. as I don't have any issue with it currently.

I have never seen that [ScriptEngine.DotNetEngine] Error message or in any of my logs, but I have all scripts in X Engine, if that matters.
I will try late tonight to create a repeatable scenario beyond the main clues,
1)happens in scripts with Avatar interaction, not only Owen's boat,
2)breaks with instance loading.
3)has shown up in the past week. |

the issue was "fixed" .. Now is back on 7683.
same exact problem as above, same types of scripts fail as above, same systems as above.
will revert to 7653 , my last saved version that is ok.

I'm renaming this because the only relation to physics, is that opensim is using them :). This will hopefully get the right people looking at it. Ones who are more familiar with the script engine. |

Unless someone specifically claims the fix, it's probably an intermittant issue. In this case, I suspect it's with events in the script engine |

because there is no source file example i guess you don't use CONTROL_ROT_LEFT or CONTROL_ROT_RIGHT. try this. |

The beta boat works quite well on my sims. I use 32 bit ubuntu 8.10 and 64 bit ubuntu 8.02 with opensim #7731 having ODE, Meshmerizer and Xengine selected.
I have found the following problems:
- The hud does not update.
- At sim borders I get ejected from the boatprim I am sitting on and that prim starts to float in the water or is lost at all. The scripts seem to continue to work, because I have enabled the feature that running scripts can pass sim borders. But that does not help, because of the automatic unsitting at the sim border. |

Snoopy,
the HUD works normally for all of us it changes on boat paramter changes, speed and angular.
sim crossings are an opensim issue. on the latest svn the typical cross will send you across your prior region heading the direction as your course at the new regionm (you ping pong). |
